What is the HSN code update? The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has published a small reminder for GST taxpayers about the mandatory nature of the HSN (Harmonized System of Nomenclature) code on all invoices. This reminder comes in reference to "Notification No. 79/2020 - Central Tax" which makes the GST HSN code mandatory on all B2B invoices w.e.f. April 1, 2021. CBIC issued this reminder to push GST taxpayers on this amendment which took place on October 15, 2020.
